Where are We ?
Wayland is a partnership area centred on
Watton in the Breckland area
of central Norfolk. However, neither 'Wayland' nor 'Breckland'
are marked on the usual OS maps but Watton is situated on
the A1075 between Thetford (on A11) & Dereham (A47).
The B1080 links the A1065
(Brandon to Swaffham road) &
the A1075 at
Watton and continues into Norwich, a little over 20 miles to the east.
The B1080 is a ancient turnpike route from the days of stage-coaches;
indeed, most of its Victorian milestones are still in place.
Breckland's towns are individual and distinctive, and, with the many local
villages, offer a variety of
interest to suit every kind of visitor as well
as a number of significant Hotels, B&Bs, Pubs &
Restaurants.
